Nyole Banys scholarshipfor art students
The late Rimas Banys created a $5,000 scholarship for art students in remembrance of his late wife Nyole (Nijole) Banys.
Nyole Banys was born in Kaunas, Lithuania in 1934. She immigrated to the United States after World War II where she studied at Illinois and Roosevelt Universities. Nyole continued her studies at the Art Institute of Chicago, graduating in 1957.
Nyole Banys participated in more than 20 group exhibitions. She had 4 major solo exhibits. Nyole’s creations, mostly of nature, have won several awards. She was a member of the La Grange Art League. Nyole Banys passed away November 18, 2007.
Candidates must be of Lithuanian descent, accepted and enrolled at an accredited art degree program (painting, ceramics, sculpture, graphic design, animation, art education, etc.) in the state of Illinois, and have completed at least sophomore year of bachelor’s degree.
